along the path to rediscovery... In search of the reason why I conversed with light... and why I continue to converse with light... and discovering that what resides in you heart can never be lost... On May 23, 2009 I left Flickr with the purpose of seeking to redefine my photographic focus and goals. And on the 2nd of January 2010 I decided to once again leave. There was a nagging emptiness inside me that went against the very reason why I picked up the camera in the first place. And it stuck like a needle whenever I looked through the lens. It was miserable. Through the days, weeks, months that I was away I captured images when I wanted and whenever I had the opportunity according to the purpose I was trying to rediscover and define. These images helped fortify my resolve that, yes, I am committed to my craft as I should be, and that I am free...

My Favorites...

My favorites. I believe these photographs define the many different times and stages of my romantic relationship with my camera, my many different subjects and photography. From precocious "liking" to mellow awareness to bursts of excitement & dynamic growth, to "seeing" what's in my field of vision, to understanding a composition, and, hopefully someday, yes, too, what's truly beyond the borders of lenses and shutters . These photographs mark my transformation. Evolution? Sometimes grinding, other times striking. Every encounter between myself, my camera and subjects offer better understanding of the beauty of photography's multi-faceted layers. It never fails to awe, amaze and surprise me. I strive to understand the better of it. But like peeling layers it is not easy. These photos very much set the foundations and, like I said, the definitions of myself as a photographer - of where I came from, at what stage I am at & where I am headed with this intercourse. The outlook and point of view of this world we live in now, I owe to the medium. I look around and I see a whole array of possibilities. Plenty of rich, exciting & promising possibilities! And, from my eyes to yours, I am happy to share them all with you!

Duotone: Sepia

My duotones in sepia There's something in sepia that attracts me so that I just had to create a set exclusively for it! Perhaps that "vintage" look? Perhaps the "drama" it effects? The mood? The feel of the tones? Whatever it is, sepia is here to stay, for me.

Portraits
21 photos
A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer.

This I believe... I believe that peace is achievable without the use of any force... This I believe... I believe that peace can be achieved with the necessary use of force... Does these beliefs make me disqualified in defining the solidity of my convictions? This I believe... I believe that life is not one strict single path like a bullet's straight trajectory towards a target, but multiple byways and crossroads. A multitude of decisions and choices towards the end... This journey's end.

Ava and Sherwin

St. Thomas Catholic Church July 19, 2008 Marietta, Georgia My friends, Ava and Sherwin had their altar date last July 19, 2008. They invited me to shoot pictures of the big day. I was very happy to have been given the opportunity but at the same time, I must admit, I was uncertain and nervous about living up to their expectations, producing the results they wished and desired. After all, this was my first serious wedding shoot. I learned a lot of things that day. Foremost was about love and friendship. And taking one's passion to craft and mission. Every moment was precious. Every moment an opportunity baring itself to be captured. It was overwhelming! But, the bottomline learned from it was - stay relaxed and be yourself... Go with the flow... Let the moments stay with you and cherish them... They are there for the taking. Just click away! Ava and Sherwin, thank you, very much, for this great experience. This album is for you! ~Ge

Lousiana is wealthy with superb wrought-iron, metal work & implements, e.g., fences, gates, rails, grills, etc. Wrought-iron has a character of its own that intrigues, attracts, seduces. This set is dedicated to the Louisiana wrought-iron and metal works.

Ginebra San Miguel: A Series.
7 photos
Ginebra San Miguel. Inumin ng tunay na lalaki! Did you know? National Artist Fernando Amorsolo in the 1900s designed the Ginebra San Miguel logo of St. Michael vanquishing the devil now known throughout the land as the "Marca Demonio". The "Markang Demonyo". Cool, huh? More interesting facts about Ginebra San Miguel (Taken from the Ginebra San Miguel website): Ginebra San Miguel is the largest-selling gin in the world. In the Philippines, about 22 bottles of Ginebra San Miguel are consumed every second. (Imagine how many students can finance their education with those 22 bottles per second hehe.) Ginebra San Miguel is the first ever Philippine gin. It was first produced in 1834 after the abolition of the Galleon Trade. It was served during the Malolos Convention in 1898. National Artist Fernando Amorsolo designed the label (St. Michael) to finance his studies abroad. The round bottle was designed after the perfect packaging – the egg. It has been referred to as ‘stainless,’ referring to its pure, clear, and safe quality. The Barangay Ginebra Song was composed by Gary Granada to pay homage to his favorite basketball team. The melody eventually became GSMI’s corporate anthem "The two bottles would nicely represent my state of intoxication: the foreground bottle is when I start drinking, and the blurred bottle in the background is when I've had one too many...!"* Overheard in a bar: "YOU better stop drinking! Your face is getting blurred!"* * From Jim aka pinoyphotog

Cara Isabelle. My little angel. My little precious. My life. My Cara. *** Ahhh, my little precious. Three today! She had her first little ballet recital the other day. Charlotte and I were so excited! We were so proud of her- she did all her routines! It was so awesome to see her in her little pink tutu and bitty ballet shoes... Pirouetting, and turning and spinning and jumping and hopping and jazzing up the floor! Ahhh, my little ballerina! My Cara... (We were such stage parents that day! Coolness gracious!).

My love affair with photography started in childhood. At a young age I remember playing and "shooting" (imaginary, of course!) with my grandfather's, Vicente Tarnate's, Rolleiflexes, Leicas and Pentaxes. He was a photographer and he loved photography. I know he did. He made a living out of his love. I wonder where my Lolo's cameras are now? Me, I just love to capture moments. Moments of people, colours, my world under the ever-changing shades of light. "Freeze" them & hopefully keep their memories somewhat alive through my photographs. Is "preserve" the word for it? When I look through the lens I know I have the ability and the humbling power to share what I saw and felt to whoever wish to view them afterwards. "How?", you ask? I just know. Just like you do with your captures. I have no formal education in photography. I just click away whenever my eye catches something or someone, that, at least to me warrants attention. (Which I am sure as you all know, in most cases, is almost every bit of everything around us!). Whatever there is or was - joy, excitement, or (I wouldn't lie to you) even, perhaps, simply spur-of-the-moment "nothing", whatever the moment brings is extended by the photograph that flickers into my LCD. I know it may sound selfish but I take photographs not to please whoever might have a chance to have a look at them, but to satisfy my own excitement. To share whatever or whatnot feelings I had before, during, and, happily, after every push at the shutter button. Photography allows me to breathe in and exhale. You see, my bottomline is simple. I am a child again when I hold my camera. To me photography is when my photographs allow my Soul To Speaketh...
